Located adjacent to the Colorado River and Matagorda County Birding Nature Center, Le Tulle Park is set in the middle of majestic live oaks with a duck pond directly in the middle. This site is frequented by waterfowl and migrating warblers in the spring and fall. Children can enjoy the playground on site. Bay City’s Park and Recreation Department is responsible for overseeing over 300 acres of developed and undeveloped open space, including Le Tulle and Riverside Parks. They strive to protect and preserve a park system that promotes quality recreational, cultural and outdoor experiences for the community and enrich the quality of life for present and future generations in a safe and secure environment.

Le Tulle Park, named for local rice grower Victor L. LeTulle who donated the land for the park and was developed in 1934, despite the Great Depression

The park originally hosted a baseball field, pavilion, and lake.  It was renovated in the late 1980’s

Now, the park has two open air pavilions and one enclosed pavilion (all available for rent), restrooms, two lakes, playground, picnic tables with grills, and an 18-hole disc golf course. The park hosts the annual Egg Hunts in the Spring and Sparks in the Park on July 4th of every year.

We have an abundance of wildlife living in the park – squirrels, raccoons, ducks, geese, fish, turtles, and alligators, to name a few.  Visitors are encouraged to feed the ducks and geese, but do not feed the alligators.  The alligators will become dependent upon humans for food, and then become aggressive when not fed.  Once an alligator becomes aggressive, we must remove it from the park.
