Bike Around the Bay 2021

Ride Start: Plantgistix – 5623 AmeriPort Parkway, Baytown, TX 77523

Bike Around the Bay is a one- or two-day, 170+ mile bike ride in which cyclists circumnavigate Galveston Bay on bike, taking you through gorgeous scenery with bayfront views. Throughout your ride, you can expect to:

· Ride around Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge and along the Gulf of Mexico

· Cross the Intracoastal Waterway at High Island

· See dolphins while crossing from the Bolivar Peninsula to Galveston Island

· Cycle across the Galveston Causeway and the Texas City Levee

· Conquer the Fred Hartman Bridge on the way to the finish line

Why not? The ride provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity to circumnavigate Galveston Bay on a bike, all while supporting a great local cause: the preservation of Galveston Bay for years to come.

  • Ride around Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge and along the Gulf of Mexico
  • Cross the Intracoastal Waterway at High Island – the highest point on the Gulf Coast between the Yucatan Peninsula and Alabama
  • See dolphins while crossing from the Bolivar Peninsula to Galveston Island on a ferry ride
  • Enjoy dinner and entertainment at the Moody Gardens Hotel
  • Cycle across the Galveston Causeway and the Texas City Levee
  • Conquer the Fred Hartman Bridge on the way to the finish line

What is the fundraising minimum for Bike Around the Bay?

One-Day: $175

Two-Day: $250

All registered cyclists are required to meet the fundraising minimum prior to picking up their rider packet.

While riders are required to reach this amount in order to participate in ride weekend, we strongly encourage riders to continue fundraising beyond this date!

All skill levels are welcome. Riders are given the option to participate in the full two-day route from Baytown to Galveston and back or select one day only. Pick whichever option works for you! The route is fully supported with SAG wagons and frequent breakpoints along the route that provide drinks, snacks, bike mechanics and first aid.

Virtual Rider

Non-cyclists (injured riders, volunteer, etc.) who want to be part of the ride by raising funds to support the Galveston Bay Foundation.
Registration is $25; $18 is tax-deductible.
There is no fundraising minimum.

All funds raised through Bike Around the Bay benefit the Galveston Bay Foundation.

NEW for 2021 BIKE AROUND THE ISLAND (a Galveston Island Ride)

Ride Date: Saturday, October 23 (Note: This is a separate ride from the Bike Around the Bay one- and two-day routes)

Ride Start/End: Moody Gardens – One Hope Boulevard, Galveston, TX 77554

Start Time: 8:00 AM

Route Closes: 1:00 PM

Ride Distance: 20 miles (1 rest stop) OR 43 miles (3 rest stops). Both are out and back routes.

Registration Fee: $40

Fundraising Requirement: $100

Galveston Bay Foundation is a conservation nonprofit that has served as guardian of Galveston Bay since 1987. Our mission is to preserve and enhance Galveston Bay as a healthy and productive place for generations to come. We work to facilitate a true cross-section of Bay interests through creative, inclusive and forward-thinking solutions to the challenges confronting Galveston Bay.

Through actions and partnerships and a commitment to sound science and research, we have five main program areas in which we work on behalf of the Bay. They are education, advocacy, restoration, conservation and protection. Each program area is broad and deep, offering a range of solutions and opportunities to preserve the Bay for generations to come.
