This historic archeological site is where the plantation of Major Abner Jackson, the namesake of the city of Lake Jackson, was located. Once a prosperous sugar plantation, the site was destroyed by the same hurricane that devastated Galveston in 1900. Tours highlight the early sugar making process, how convict labor replaced slave labor during the 1870’s, and the destruction of the hurricane of 1900.
