After spending many years as a commercial fisherman, Buddy Guindon envisioned becoming a salesman and marketer in the seafood industry. In 1998, Buddy turned his vision into a reality when he, his wife Katie, and his brother Kenny opened Katie’s Seafood Market on Pier 19 in Galveston, Texas. Guindon, a founding member of the Shareholder Alliance, has come before congress informing them about the significance of seafood protection. Nearly 5 years ago, a producer contacted Guindon in hopes of doing a reality show about his family business that aims to protect the sustainability of the seafood business. In 2015, the reality show ‘Big Fish Texas’ came to life on National Geographic. Viewers from all around began to know what it takes to be a fisherman in the Gulf today. For more than 18 years of business, Katie’s Seafood Market continues to provide the highest quality of product available to their customers, boasting the largest retail display on the Galveston Island. The majority of our seafood comes from local fisherman and shrimpers, including Red Snapper, Grouper, Golden Tile Fish, Flounder, Oysters, Shrimp, and Blue Crabs. We take great pride in supporting the local economy, Gulf Wild and Gulf of Mexico commercial fishermen. Katie’s proudly serves the general public, local regional markets such as HEB and Central Market, and numerous restaurants throughout the state of Texas. Katie’s seafood also offers fresh fish to be delivered via UPS overnight to customers all across the country through our website katiesseafoodmarket.com.
