Product Description

Anytime you visit Beaumont you can learn about our area’s black history and culture, but Juneteenth is an extra special weekend. A celebration commemorating the end of slavery in the US, on June 19, 1865, Army General Gordan Granger, landed on Galveston Island right in our backyard, proclaiming the end of slavery for all slaves. President Lincoln had already signed the Emancipation Proclamation two and half years earlier, but Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom and African- American culture through art, food, music and more.

Beaumont’s official 20th anniversary celebration takes place in Tyrrell Park, 6088 Babe Zaharias Drive, Beaumont, TX 77705, with music, kid’s activities, and picnics from 2 pm until dusk with additional events throughout the weekend.
